My Messages is a notification filter and inbox app. It reads notifications on your device, filters them by rules you configure, and displays them in a clear inbox. This policy explains what data the app accesses, how it is used, and what is shared with third parties.
My Messages uses Android's NotificationListenerService to read notifications from apps you select (for example WhatsApp, SMS, Gmail, NHS). This content — including the app name, notification title, and message body — is:
If you choose to use the optional daily email digest feature, you may enter one or more recipient email addresses. These addresses are:
If you use the Cloud digest option, message content is transmitted to a cloud relay service (digest@mymessages.thecrazycat.com) solely to deliver your digest email. This content is not stored or logged beyond delivery.
If you choose to use the Sign in with Google feature for sending digest emails and instant alerts, the app requests the https://www.googleapis.com/auth/gmail.send OAuth scope. This permission:
Token storage: Your OAuth access token and refresh token are stored locally on your device in EncryptedSharedPreferences (Android Keystore-backed encryption). They are never transmitted to any server or shared with any third party.
Revoking access: You can revoke the app's Gmail access at any time by signing out within the app (Email Settings → Revoke access), or by visiting https://myaccount.google.com/permissions and removing My Messages from the list of connected apps.
Use of this feature is entirely optional. You may also configure email sending manually via SMTP without signing in with Google.
If you choose to use the optional Telegram channel for digest emails or instant alerts, the app sends message summaries to Telegram's servers via their API (api.telegram.org). Specifically:
EncryptedSharedPreferencesUse of Telegram is entirely optional. The app functions without it.
If you grant the Read Contacts permission, the app resolves phone numbers to display names for SMS messages. Contact data is read on-device only and is never transmitted or stored beyond the display name shown in the inbox.
My Messages offers an optional Pro subscription via Google Play Billing. All payment processing is handled entirely by Google Play. We do not collect, store, or process any payment card details. Google's privacy policy applies to billing: https://policies.google.com/privacy
My Messages does not include any analytics SDKs, advertising SDKs, crash reporting services, or tracking libraries. No usage data, device identifiers, or behavioural data are collected.
All app data (messages, rules, categories, preferences) is stored locally on your device using:
Data is not backed up to cloud services unless you use Android's built-in backup and have enabled it in your device settings.
Uninstalling the app removes all locally stored data. You can also manually delete individual messages from within the app, or use the retention setting to auto-delete archived messages after a configurable number of days.
